One can create references or links to different places on a page using anchors. These can be within the same page or on another page. An example of the use of anchors is the Table of Contents that appears on some pages. We have used them in a couple of places on the Sample schedules page.
You can find a more detailed explanation by clicking on the wikispace Help at the top of any page and following the links Wikitext > Wikitext Links, or you may go directly to an older version without images here: anchor .
Anchors can be inserted using the visual editor or the text editor. The procedures are slightly different in the two cases. It is most easily explained by giving an example:
Suppose that you want to create an anchor at the top of a long page, in order to make it easier for users to skip from some place further down back to the beginning. Then, at the top of the page you enter the name of the anchor, for example,
[[#top]]
Then, at the point further down where you want to enter the link to the top anchor, you enter the word or symbol you wish to use for example, TOP or ⇧.
Now you need to create a link, which you may do in the usual way: In the visual editor, highlight the word or symbol and click on the Link button. You will see this image:
Choose the name of the current page, such as About Anchors
